Theme not Displaying as in the Demo
A demo preview of a Blogger template is an example of ready-made and already set up blog. Usually, site demos already include ready-made sections and abstract texts/photos. You can easily practice before creating your personal blog, and you can use sample pictures/texts as a basis to achieve your desired look.
To make your Blogger theme look like in the demo:
1. Remove Previous Widgets
If your blog is new, you may need to remove some of the widgets that Blogger automatically adds. They usually go to the available section, be it either the Header, or the Blog Posts section. To get rid of them, go to Layout and click edit to remove the unnecessary widgets and make sure to not remove the ones our theme provides.
If your blog is old, then you may need to remove the widgets from your previous theme. Again, this can be easily done from Layout. In case some of the widgets are locked, this is how you can remove them:
- Go to Theme > Edit HTML > click on "Jump to Widget".
- Select the widget you want to remove from the list.
- Replace true to false in
locked='true'code snippet. - Click Save/Floppy Disk Icon and go to Layout again; you might have to refresh the page, but now you should be able to remove the widget.
2. Clear formatting
If you copy text from different sources such as MS Word document, you can run into formatting problems. Your content will have paragraphs with different font styles, colors, line spacing, and sizes. This will not only make your blog look ugly and unprofessional but also hard to read and edit.
How do you create uniform formatting for the whole post or edit the formatting style of selected segments in your post? See our article on fonts and colors are wrong.
3. Choose "Original" Size for Images
When you add images to your posts, always select "Extra large" or "Original". With these options, the images will fill the post area which will make your design match the demo better. For more info, check our guide on how to make images full width.
